AWARD RECIPIENT"
Tom graduated from U.C.
Berkeley in Civil Engineering in 1957 and has been a member of the
American Society of Civil Engineers since 1970. Tom worked for Cen-Cal
Company in San Leandro as an Engineer-Estimator-Sales Manager doing
commercial and industrial work with a 1966 volume of about $7,000,000.00.
Tom joined his father in 1966, became President, and started specializing
in commercial and industrial construction work. Tom has since retired
and supports Mill Construction as a consultant.
ERNEST
D. MILL - "SALINAS VALLEY BUILDERS EXCHANGE - 2006 CONSTRUCTION
MAN OF THE YEAR"
President
- CEO : Ernie graduated from Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, in Construction
Engineering in 1983. He then spent two years working for Pacific Construction
in Honolulu, Hawaii as an Estimator and Project Manager. He managed
projects ranging from minor structural repairs of a multi-unit Navy
housing track to major structural repairs of failures in a high-rise
condominium complex. Since Ernie’s return to Mill Construction
in 1985, he has worked his way through the estimating and management
of individual projects to the management of the corporation in 1995.
With the strong leadership and vision of the corporate officers, Mill
Construction has experienced controlled steady growth every year since
then. Ernie keeps in touch with the community by being a past President
of the Rodeo Rotary Club, a past Chairman of the Board to the Salinas
Valley Chamber of Commerce, and past President of the Monterey Bay
Area Council of BSA. Ernie, with his strong belief of providing a
quality product, a high level of service, along with always being
honest, has maintained clients that his father and grandfather has
had since 1949.
WILLIAM TAYLOR,
SR.
Senior Vice President :
Bill is in charge of Field Operations. Bill has grown with the company,
starting at the first level of apprentice carpenter and working his
way up the company to his present position. With Bills experience
and years of knowledge in the field, he is a great asset to our Management
Team. Bill has been with our company since 1962.
JAMES
MOORE
Vice
President/Contracts & Senior Estimator: James has 23 years experience
in estimating and project management. He brings to Mill Construction
a broad range of experience, he has personally estimated and managed
various forms of projects such as Public and Private Schools, Commercial
Retail Developments, Multi-Family Housing, General Engineering structures,
Sub-division improvements, Public Works, Food Processing and Cooling
facilities, private custom residents and Health Care projects (OSHPD).
James is a native of Monterey County along with his family.
RUSSELL SIMMONS
Vice
President / Operations / AZ: Russ began his career in construction
in 1971 with his father, Nathan O. Simmons at Dukor Modular Homes
located in Gilroy, CA. In 1973 he became a part of Mill Construction
Company as a 2 nd year Apprentice Carpenter. He is a second generation
employee with Mill Construction as his father worked for Tom Mill,
Sr. in the late 50's early 60's. Russ has supervised several projects
for Mill Construction including Coastal Ford Tractor, Millionaire
Jet Center, Pride of San Juan, Salinas Californian Newspaper, Monterey
Herald, Fiber Innovations, Nunes Cooling Facility and Monterey County
Waste Management Facility among many others in CA. Russ has been working
in our Yuma location on and off since 2000. In 2003-2004 Russ became
a permanent resident of Yuma, AZ when we opened our Arizona office.
He is currently overseeing numerous jobs including ESSCO Wholesale
Electric, Pinnacle Healthcare, Prima Bella Produce, Dateland Travel
Center, Yuma County Health Department, Yuma County Sheriff Department
and Mesquite Regional Landfill. Russ has just recently assumed the
position of our Vice President of Operations for our Yuma facility.
